The History Connected Project
Hands-on, Minds Engaged Manipulatives
Engagement Strategies

Engagement Strategies use hands-on, minds-engaged kinesthetic learning experiences to bring history to life and make abstract concepts concrete.
Hexagon Connections allow students to visually map relationships between historical concepts, events, and people. By arranging and linking hexagonal tiles, students identify patterns, causes, and consequences.
Source Cards bring historical evidence into students’ hands through postcard-sized reproductions of primary and secondary sources. Students categorize, analyze, compare and match cards.
Timeline Tiles transform chronology into an interactive exploration of continuity, change, and cause-and-effect relationships.
Board Games turn historical inquiry into strategy, decision-making, and problem-solving. Students step into the roles of historical actors, weighing options and consequences that shaped real events.
